Prairie Petals - CSA Program
WHAT'S A FLOWER CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a farm-business model where folks invest in a farm early in the season (when we’re growing the flowers) and in return receive a share of the harvest.
Flower CSAs are perfect as gifts, for individuals, families, the office restaurants, and other small businesses.
WHAT'S IN A SHARE?
OUR FLOWER CSA OFFERS YOU THE VERY BEST OF WHAT'S IN BLOOM EACH WEEK.
Each share brings the ephemeral beauty of the seasons right into your home. Whether it is a gorgeous wildflower bouquet or a bunch of perfect zinnias, flowers are sure to bring you joy on the daily. We truly believe that beauty is a wonderful form of nourishment in this crazy world, and we hope that our blooms will sustain you too, heart and soul.
SUMMER/FALL BOUQUET SHARE
Twelve or sixteen weeks of artful, unique mixed Prairie Petals style bouquets
This share features the absolute best of the summer flower patch, including blooms like sunflowers, peonies, lilies, zinnias, marigolds, asters, and so much more. Unique color combinations, textures, and scents abound. Celebrate the light and heat of summer with weekly bouquets, arranged with love in a vase.
2025 CSA TERMS & CONDITIONS
By purchasing a Prairie Petals flower CSA share, for yourself or as a gift, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
PAYMENT
I understand that once I sign up and pay for my membership in full, I have secured my place in the CSA for the respective season.
There are no refunds, either full or partial, for cancellation of my CSA once purchased as the money is spent on the farm towards your subscription.
START DATES
The start date of each CSA share is flexible, based on seasonal conditions at the farm. Prairie Petals will communicate via email to inform all members of updates and of the official start date. The 2025 projected start date is June 17th.
MY SHARE
I will receive one vase of farm grown flowers on a weekly basis for either 12 or 16 weeks, based on payment submitted. A 12 week share is $300 and a 16 week share is $400. Every CSA arrangement is valued at $40, but is sold for only $25/week, as a benefit for supporting the farm.
PICKING UP MY SHARE - OR DELIVERY
PICKUP: I understand that my share will be ready weekly for pickup at the flower shop. If I am out of town or unable to pick up my CSA for any reason, I understand that it is my responsibility to find a substitute to collect my share. If my share is not picked up on the designated day, I may call the shop to reschedule within the same week. I will not receive credit or a refund for any shares that I do not pick up, however the flower shop does try to accommodate for your schedule.
The shop will provide a box to transport flowers home at the initial pick up. I will either continue to use this box for the duration of the season, or bring my own preferred form of securing the flowers.
DELIVERY: I understand that my share will be delivered at a charge of $10 per delivery to the address I have provided. I will notify Prairie Petals each Monday if I wish to add a complimentary card to my delivery for the week. Delivery time requests cannot be guaranteed, but we will do our best to accommodate them. Deliveries may range from 9am-7pm.
SPLITTING MY SHARE
I may coordinate the splitting of my CSA share with another individual. I will provide the shop with the information for both parties participating via email.
SHARING THE RISK
As a member of the Prairie Petals community supported agriculture group, I share in both the bounty and the risks of farming. I understand that the risks include poor harvests due to unfavorable weather or pests, or the total loss of all crops due to a natural disaster such as fire, flood, or drought. In the event of such circumstances, the shop will substitute farm grown flowers for purchased flowers.
COMMUNICATION
Email is how Prairie Petals communicates updates and changes. By signing up for the CSA, I understand that I will be added to the email list, and I agree to add prairiepetalsfargo@gmail.com to my email contacts. The only emails I will receive are those regarding the CSA program.
A note about organically grown & local flowers:
Most flowers you buy all year, out of season, carry a desperately heavy burden on their delicate stems, crazy carbon footprints (did you know most flowers are grown in tropical places, and flown to Amsterdam to the flower markets before your local grocery chain buys them and ships them to your store?), and toxic (often unregulated) pesticide and herbicide use with multifold health ramifications for buyers as well as (often under-compensated) field workers.
Local, organically grown flowers carry none of that burden, and are higher quality just by virtue of being fresh and not having been shipped so long and far, and often last much longer in the vase. Also, many gorgeous flowers just don’t ship well, and therefore, have fallen out of popularity from florists and flower designers that rely on big wholesalers who don’t work with local farms. So often, local growers will have rarer, higher-quality, longer-lasting, non-toxic flowers that put your dollars right back into your community!
Here at Prairie Petals we always strive to reduce our waste and carbon footprint. Regularly we try to work with farmers directly and support other local growers. Our efforts to up our growing season this year is to secure local flowers for longer, to diversify our preserved and dried stems for all year round, and even provide the variety bride’s seek in their summer/fall wedding bouquets. By supporting us this summer through a CSA you're helping our team take a few big steps to become a more sustainable flower shop and fabulous Fargo business.
Thank you!
